On March 20 those OAH's who prefer sunsets over the Pacific were invited to the charming Empress of China restaurant in San Francisco for a convivial repast. 32 very warm bodies (including spouses and guests) appeared.
Eminent Gavel John Bohn (accompanied by Lady Barbara) welcomed the group, commenting that even if the mission has been to have no socially redeeming purpose, he recognized there is knowledge, skills and experience that is unmatched elsewhere and the energy of some of the younger members (boy, is that relative!) is pulling toward putting a little more gloss on a purpose.
Other notable attendees were Bob Sharp (who had segmented the OAH list for invitations and gave an entertaining tutorial on using the website) and Fran Doyle Walker (who had located the restaurant and helped mightily with the invites).
Jim and Dawn Rooney from Bangkok attended their first-ever OAH event and Jim gave a brief but amusing outlook for the Thai economy.
The mood was that there should be such an event at least annually! Hopefully one of the California residents will pick up the event gavel and make it happen.
